I was approached by Turbine Creative to produce a 2D/3D animation hybrid video showcasing Thermo Fisher’s Chem dex™ platform. The guys at Turbine had an established idea involving 3D devices showing different stages of the user journey and the apps interface building in. They were really keen to have transitions throughout to show different parts of the interface and user journey. Once we had agreed on the style I got to work developing some styleframes based on their provided storyboard, paying close attention to the brand guidelines. Once this stage was complete and the client was happy with the look and feel I began work on the animation. For each scene, I had to identify which elements would remain 2D and animate in After Effects and which parts would need to be reconstructed in 3D, while animating key moments in time to the voiceover for the user journey.
